Roberts Bakery Band (Great Britain)

Musical director: Mike Jones

After 10 years they are coming back to Aue-Bad Schlema! In 1998, they were the first orchestra from Great Britain at our festival. Since then, they have visited us almost every year – a total of 12 times until 2014.

The Roberts Bakery Band emerged from the Middlewich Town Band after securing sponsorship from the Northwich-based Roberts Bakery in 1980. The talented UK music group is characterised by its unique blend of musical styles. The band has made a name for itself by combining traditional British music with modern elements, resulting in a fresh and appealing sound.

The members of Roberts Bakery Band come from different musical backgrounds, which leads to an exciting dynamic within the group. Their performances are known for their energy and interactivity with the audience, making them a favourite act at festivals and events.

The band was under the direction of Colin Cranson for 41 years. Through him the band was promoted to the championship section several times. The band then enjoyed further success under the direction of Simon Stonehouse and Paul Lovatt-Cooper before the current musical director, Mike Jones, took up the position in 2023.
