Musical director: Jens Schleicher
For the third time, the musicians from Lower Saxony will delight our festival visitors with the high-quality brass music to which they have been faithful for more than 50 years.
On 17 January 1973, 22 friends of brass music founded this formation in Gehrden near Hanover. Within a very short time, the ‘Original Calenberger’ made a name for themselves at home and abroad. Concert tours have taken the orchestra to New York for the Steuben Parade, to the Czech Republic, to South Tyrol and repeatedly to the Erzgebirge for the European Brass Music Festival. In addition, five records and four CDs bear witness to the creative musical work.
The orchestra’s traditional costume, with its red socks, black knee breeches and green waistcoat, has become a traditional symbol of high-quality brass band music. Jens Schleicher has led the orchestra since autumn 2013 and shapes the creative musical work with his passionate conducting.
A chair for the festival organisers. The conductor’s son, Henrik Schleicher, had just finished his training as a carpenter in 2019 and completed this chair in front of the audience during a piece of music.
