‘Brass music in all shades and facets for young, old and from all over the world. That’s Aue-Bad Schlema on the third weekend in September.’
Dear brass music fans from near and far,
The European Brass Music Festival in Aue-Bad Schlema is returning for the 31st time. For 18 years now, the 3rd weekend in September has been a fixed date in my private calendar – and for good reason. It is a true celebration of music, joy and friendship. The festival tent becomes a place of international understanding, where music as a common language brings us all together and lets us celebrate.
This is precisely what has prompted us – BsS Bergsicherung Sachsen GmbH – to support this event both financially and in terms of personnel for many years. It fills me with pride and joy to be the patron of this ‘Hammer Festival’ in the Ore Mountains in the 25th anniversary year of Bergsicherung Sachsen.
Every orchestra that performs here is exceptional and is able to sweep the guests off their feet. The Steigerlied (miners’ song), an intangible cultural heritage, played by all the bands together under the direction of a single conductor, gives me goose bumps year after year, and not just me as a miner. Making music and celebrating together in Aue – Bad Schlema creates friendships across borders, and it is impossible to say how many. But I am convinced that there are several hundred, if not thousands. (Personally, I’m thinking in particular of our Swedish friends: Många hälsningar till Trelleborg och Malmö! ;-))
My special thanks go to all participants, the orchestras, the organisers, all supporters and sponsors as well as the many volunteers, without whom the festival could not succeed.
I wish all musicians and guests a fantastic weekend with great music and lots of fun and joy! A hearty ‘Glück AUF’ from Schneeberg!
