The orchestra is celebrating its 50th anniversary with us in the Blasmusikarena. And the founder is turning 80 this year, so they are celebrating these two anniversaries together at our festival!
The orchestra is named after the local windmill in its home town of Woudrichem and aims to entertain the audience not only with its music alone, but also with visual jokes to accompany its performances. That’s why the motto is: ‘Turning every event into a party and every party into an event’. The repertoire consists of a mixture of classics, evergreens and Dutch folk songs.
The band members are easily recognisable by their blue beret with a red pumpkin. They can perform a band dance or the song „Ik zal nooit mehr dronken wezen (I’ll Never Be Drunk)“ before sipping their homemade drink.
Although the orchestra has been on a farewell tour since its foundation in 1974, it will continue to tour as long as the audience appreciates its efforts.
